Stonyridge Larose 2006 has outclassed the world’s best-known and respected wines in a blind tasting of 387 cabernet sauvignon blends held by Australia’s largest wine magazine Winestate in May 2011. This was published in the July edition and the below results speak for themselves:
- Stonyridge Larose 2006 (5 stars)
- Chateau Latour 2006
- Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2006
- Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2007
was awarded first equal place ahead of:
We shared our first place with one of Steve’s favourites, the legendary Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River.
We also scored above all the Bordeaux First Growths and other excellent Aussie Icon Cabs including Mount Mary, Cullens and Penfolds 707.
We consider this more important than our victory against the First Growths in Paris because all the judges were Australian and two of them Masters of Wine (MW’s) Phil Reedman MW, David Le Mire MW and Ian McKenzie National Wine Show Judge. This is probably the best judging panel ever assembled in Australia and these guys really know their Cabernets.
The 2006 Larose is an amazing wine and the best news is we believe the 2010 vintage is even better! This result is another great achievement after our 95 point Robert Parker rated 2008 Larose & 94 point 2009 Larose.Read more...
