Dining with a vineyard view

Veranda Café

"One of the Top 10 Must-Visit Wineries in the World"

-By Robert Joseph
The Guardian, UK - June 2007

Nestled in a shimmering valley of olive trees, colourful vines, and the aromas of the south of France, our Veranda Café is one of the most romantic and exotic venues in New Zealand for café dining, private functions, and weddings.

"If you only had time to visit one winery in New Zealand, Stonyridge would be it"

-The Mail on Sunday, UK 'Travel Section', October 2006

"It overlooks the vines, olive grove, and lavender field, and serves delicious nibbles as well as one of the country's best wines…This is one winery café that's everything you've always wanted a winery café to be."

- Joelle Thomson, NZ Herald

Food and Wine:

Our menu was created by our chef Koji Kininami, who has traveled extensively and developed a reputation for inspired cuisine from his time in the grotto with 'Hef' and BBQ's on the back lawn with Paris.

We specialise in Waiheke and organic wines by the glass or bottle.

We also boast our own olives and olive oil, which are often not available elsewhere.

"Waiheke Island is a short ferry ride from the city and mostly covered in weekend homes, serving much the same role as Long Island does for inhabitants of Manhattan. And there are great vineyards here to and none greater than Stonyridge created by former professional yachtsman Stephen White.

If you only had time to visit one winery in New Zealand this would have to be it, because after the obligatory glance at the presses and barrels, you can chill out in the café overlooking the rows of neatly trimmed vines while enjoying Pacific meets Mediterranean food and a glass of Stephen Whites ‘Larose’, a better than Bordeaux red.

But a visit here comes with a warning; people have been know to enjoy themselves too much"
